In the wake of another contentious election, whichever way you voted, you may still have feelings of anger, distrust, disappointment, shock, sadness—or worse—hopelessness. It is times like these when we may fear what the immediate future has in store for our LGBTQ+ community, especially in the continuing struggle for dignity, equity, freedom, and concerns for safety.
Having a network or community to surround you with love and support is crucial to making it through the rough times. AGLOChicago is here to be your spiritual home, a family of faith that grounds you during times of adversity and suffering. We can look to the Gospel of John to remind us, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.” The darkness does not have the last word. We are light to each other. Strength, resilience, and hope are found within each of us and with each other. We have been through times like these before and we will get through the current hardships. Together.
Don’t hesitate to pick up the phone or send an email if you are struggling with any of these emotions, they are all valid. Although we don’t have staff answering our phone, please call 773-525-3872 or email us at [email protected] and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.
