Archdiocesan Outreach to the LGBTQ+ Community

Founded in 1988 through the Archdiocese of Chicago, AGLOChicago gathers every Sunday to worship in the Roman Catholic tradition. AGLOChicago is the Archdiocese of Chicago's outreach to the LGBTQ+ community. AGLO was created as a supra-parochial organization that provides outreach and accompaniment to the Catholic LGBTQ+ community. 

We organize socials, faith-sharing groups, online and in-person retreats, and social justice activities. We offer an accepting and affirming space to practice our faith as members of the LGBTQ+ community and feel connection without denying who we are.

In the wake of another contentious election, whichever way you voted, you may still have feelings of anger, distrust, disappointment, shock, sadness—or worse—hopelessness. It is times like these when we may fear what the immediate future has in store for our LGBTQ+ community, especially in the continuing struggle for dignity, equity, freedom, and concerns for safety. 

Having a network or community to surround you with love and support is crucial to making it through the rough times. AGLOChicago is here to be your spiritual home, a family of faith that grounds you during times of adversity and suffering. We can look to the Gospel of John to remind us, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.” The darkness does not have the last word. We are light to each other. Strength, resilience, and hope are found within each of us and with each other. We have been through times like these before and we will get through the current hardships. Together.
